Requirements

Students must be in the creative writing concentration at the time of application. Preference is given to students who will be seniors in 2015-2016. Must be organized, responsible, possess excellent time management skills, be willing to try new things, able to work with several supervisors, act calm under pressure, and possess excellent communication skills in person and in email. Desired skills include: ability to speak in front of a large audience; powerpoint; car and license; ability to make a poster in Photoshop, Indesign, or equivalent program; and time over the summer to write grants.

Instructions for Applying

Send resume and cover letter to cwintern@gmail.com by  the deadline: 11:59 pm Friday, May 1. The resume and cover letter should be Word or PDF files. The subject line of the email should read “Application for 2015 - 2016 Internship” and the body of the message should have your first and last name, year, ucsc email address, and phone number.

Cover Letter Requirements: Tell us in your cover letter why you want to be an Intern in the Creative Writing Program, the skills you possess, and tell us all of the Intern roles that you are interested in (the available roles are Co-Host of Writers’ Society, Co-Host of Living Writers’ Series, Summer Grant Writer, *Driving Coordinator for Visiting Authors, Website and Social Media Manager, **Poster Designer, Living Writers Video Recorder, Weekly Newsletter Creator, Liaison to Kresge Writers’ House, and Liaison to Publications and Student Media).

*If you are interested in the Driving Coordinator role, let us know if you have a car and a license and if you are willing to drive authors.

**If you are interested in the Poster Designer role, you must also submit a sample poster in PDF format to cwintern@gmail.com by the application deadline, 11:59 pm Friday, May 1.
